Why Circus Arts?

For many people, “circus” means clowns and kids. But contemporary circus offers so much more than you think.

Circus Is a Vehicle for:

People of all ages and experience levels find transformative power in circus arts.

Wonder

Circus transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, making you see what bodies and minds can do in entirely new ways.

Confidence

From your first cartwheel to holding a handstand, every skill you earn builds trust in yourself that reaches far beyond the studio.

Belonging

This is a community built on showing up, trying things, and supporting each other through every wobble and triumph.

Growth

Circus teaches you to measure progress against yourself, cultivating patience and self-awareness that shape how you move through the world.

Joy

There’s something undeniably alive about moving together, taking creative risks, and celebrating what happens when we play.

Wellness

Circus offers full-body movement that strengthens, stretches, and challenges you while keeping things dynamic, engaging, and fun.

What Contemporary Circus Looks Like

A performer in a colorful outfit does an aerial silk act outdoors on a green lawn, with a crowd of people watching, surrounded by tall trees and blue skies. The words VERTICAL ARTS appear at the bottom.
A group of performers in festive costumes pose on stage, facing a large, cheering audience in a theater. The crowd is full, and the stage has the word “THEATER” displayed at the bottom.
Two children wearing black jackets juggle yellow and green clubs on stage under a spotlight, with the word JUGGLING displayed at the bottom.
A person in a black tank top wearing a large, realistic elephant head mask poses indoors. The word DANCE appears in bold white letters at the bottom of the image.
Silhouettes of people standing and walking on stage with a dramatic red background, conveying a sense of storytelling and performance.
A group of children in colorful costumes stand outdoors with their arms raised, mouths open in excitement or laughter, under a cloudy sky. The word PLAY appears at the bottom of the image.
Two people perform an acrobatic routine on a pole, with one person hanging upside down holding the others hand, in a colorful indoor studio with murals on the wall.
A person performs a mid-air tumbling leap in front of closed red stage curtains. The word TUMBLING appears in bold white letters at the bottom of the image.
Six people of various ages ride unicycles in a row inside a concrete-walled room while raising their arms for balance. An audience sits nearby, and the word “BALANCE” is displayed at the bottom.

Circus Is Bigger Than You Think

Beyond the benefits to individual mental and physical health, circus arts build strong, connected communities.

Circus bridges performance, athletics, entertainment, and education. It serves as cultural connective tissue among diverse community members. It creates an intergenerational space where we train, practice, play, and grow — side by side.

And as a nonprofit, 406Cirque works to make these transformative experiences accessible to everyone in Bozeman.

The Power of Circus

(In Their Own Words!)

A large blue circle overlaps the bottom left corner of a light green square. The word RESILIENCE is written in bold black letters curved above the blue circle inside the green square.

“We are eternally grateful to Paul and his staff for teaching our daughter a huge life lesson and the confidence that comes along with it: When you fall, get back up and keep trying all the while have fun while learning that competence and confidence both grow with dedication and practice.

We have seen her resilience to life obstacles increase even more after overcoming the many challenges she has faced with learning the unicycle these past couple months.”

He came away from 406CIRQUE summer camps displaying great talent that impressed all of our extended family. He has new interests and I have been given a fresh new look at my son!”

“The unique combination of circus skills combined with performance was exactly what my kid’s soul needed. She has now been doing acro for an entire year and I am crying through the showcase.

The level of technique, support and performance opportunities are unmatched! Thank you 406 Cirque! You have inspired my child’s life, and my life as a performer, too.”
